Kitchen Chemistry!
Posted on November 20th, 2010Hello Everyone! We are very happy to announce the launch of our Kitchen Chemistry! page. Students that participate in the Lab Ratz Science Club know that five weeks passes very quickly. And the weeks between sessions seem to drag on for ever. But when they aren’t attending a Lab Ratz program, young scientists don’t stop being curious. So we have created a resource for parents and children who want to continue exploring the sciences at home. While the page is still under construction, we have already started posting experiment ideas to it and will continue to do so. We are also taking requests - If you have an experiment that you just can’t seem to get the results you expect from or a science project that is due and you need an idea right away. Send us an email via the “Contact” link above and we will start investigating the topic and post suggestions or the procedure right away.
We are also encouraging students and their families to try our suggested experiments, or to come up with one of their own, and post the procedure and results to our Facebook page so that other Lab Ratz can give it a try and verify the results. We will be adding guidelines and advice for how to “Publish” discoveries on Facebook the way professional scientists do in primary literature.
Eventually we will have procedures and suggestions for experiments that relate to each topic explored during the Lab Ratz Science Club after school science program, in addition to many of the ideas submitted by our readers available on the page. Topics are being added daily so check back often. Happy Experimenting!
